The theatrics one sees on television are not typical of most exorcisms. During the Sacrament of Baptism, the priest actually says prayers of exorcism. So, in this sense, exorcisms happen daily in the Roman Catholic Church. The prayers for the specific ritual of exorcism are yet found in the Rituale Romanum, a standard book of rituals for Catholic priests. In order for an ordained priest to perform the rites of exorcism, he must first obtain the permission of the bishop. Before a bishop can sanction an exorcism, doctors and psychiatrists must agree there could be something beyond a medical condition. The act of exorcism is considered to be a dangerous spiritual task.

ABOUT EVP:
After lengthy consideration and personal experience with EVP, Lori has concluded that EVP is not valid proof of a haunting. If it is too good to be true, it is! Lori doesn't condemn EVP phenomena or those who use it but personally feels that after studying the phenomena that it is unproven and unscientific. That does not deter the devoted, of course: it is claimed that there are more than 50,000 sites on the internet devoted to EVP! Electronic Voice Phenomenon, commonly known as EVP, is the recording of errant noises or voice messages to either analog or digital recorders with what appears to be no earthly explanation. Most believers of EVP maintain these are messages from beyond the grave. Unlike many "ghost hunters" Lori doesn't take EVP seriously and finds attempting to record EVP not only a waist of time but insignificant and unproven. She finds it too controversial and despite widespread belief in EVP, scientists have shown little interest in the phenomenon. NOTE: Serious parapsychologists today show virtually no interest in EVP, and modern reports in the Para psychological literature find no evidence of anything paranormal in such recordings. This is why we must rely on science as the avenue to truth. Electronic Voice Phenomena are the products of hope and expectation AND even if you think you have recorded the real thing, the claims wither away under the light of scientific scrutiny.
