ABOUT  Lori McDonald:

Lori was born in Arizona and is an  Arizona Native who has been conducting paranormal investigations in both California and Arizona for the past 12 years.  Lori's investigations have been featured on Channel 15 in Arizona on three separate occasions. Lori has been a guest on KDKB radio on twice. She had a paranormal experience as a child while visiting her grandparents who lived in a haunted house in California.  Throughout her life, she has had an intuitive ability to sense a presence or a haunting. Is a Mesa scrapbooking store haunted? Paranormal investigation, Lori McDonald has the answer.
Note: Lori found this haunting by accident.   She sensed the store was haunted, so she asked the clerk who confirmed it with stories of numerous paranormal events that had taken place in the historic building. As Lori strolled along  the creaking antique hard wood floors, she sensed the presence of a little girl spirit and asked "Has anyone ever seen the apparition of a little girl?".  Lori was told that the disembodied voice, EVP (electronic voice phenomena) of a girl spirit saying "Hello" was recorded by  paranormal group that investigated the shop several months ago!
Photos of orbs were taken after Lori obtained a low thermal reading of 42 degrees and a high 7.9 EMF reading in the various locations.

Haunted Historic Antique Store and Paper Scrap booking shop Located in Mesa, AZ.

Lori's findings: (The building is haunted!) Lori reported several witness accounts of numerous apparitions had been seen --A man, a little boy, a little girl--were seen in the shop. One 6 year-old who was with her mother, refused to go down stairs into the basement. She told her mom "ghost children were down stairs".  The shop owner had experienced poltergeist activity. Upon the close of business the store was neat and organized and the next morning  papers and scrap booking supplies were found in disarray.  Dolls were played with and mysteriously moved around in the middle of the night.  Prior to closing several dolls had been neatly placed  high on a shelf by the vendor, and the next day  they were found  on the floor in a straight line, along with a small red pair of shoes. Late one night when the customers were scrap booking upstairs  a radio turned on by itself in the basement. Recently, during renovation several dolls flew off the shelf. Marbles have materialized from the ceiling out of thin air. Lori obtained thermal readings or cold spots that spiked from 79-48 degrees in a split second.   Lori filmed strange spirit orb activity and a a white ecto-mist that faded in and out near the ceiling, with an infrared night shot camera, in the basement. This historic building was built in 1898. It was built with Lehi bricks. It was once a bakery and the ownership has changed hands many times. Family members of shop owners and employees were exposed to the Spanish flu pandemic in 1918.  Many died from the illness. This shop is connected to a paper and scrap booking store and many of the historic buildings on Main Street are rumored to be haunted throughout the downtown area.

 Lori's conclusion was that the building is haunted by residual energy, intelligent spirit activity and poltergeist "Mischievous" energy.

 The activity normally happens in the wee hours of the night between 12:00 midnight until 3:00 in the morning. A late night DJ who worked the graveyard shift abruptly quit due to the CREEPY feeling and poltergeist activity that followed him around  the studio.  Even though it was his life long ambition to pull air shifts at KDKB-FM, the paranormal energy was so intense that he immediately quit his job forever. One night a line of CD cases levitated or flew off the shelf and landed all around him at his desk. The security guard witnessed seeing the apparition of a "hippie" in a black coat with black long hair by the bathroom. Numerous witness accounts of the full body ghost of a man with shoulder length black hair, black coat, and 60's hippie style clothes. Only the side profile is visible and the spirit never makes eye contact with anyone.  Jon experienced all of the equipment in the studio turning on by itself.  The disembodied voice (EVP) of an entity has been heard on the air even though no one is in the studio.    A ghost tweaks the equipment and things move around in the middle of the night. 

One theory is that the building is haunted by THE GHOST OF KDKB's
first program director, the legendary BILL COMPTON.  Tragically, after he was fired, Bill Compton died in a car accident in Phoenix canal in June of 1977. One hypothesis is that humans who die tragically,  or unexpectedly, remain anchored to the earth plane. Confusion, drug addiction, grief, or extreme emotions may cause a spirit to haunt a place they loved the most.  Spirits or entities haunt a specific location because they have unfinished business to take care of.   A ghost that looks like Bill Compton has been seen by different witnesses on several different occasions. This is a rare occurrence. Everyone describes seeing a "hippie" with long black hair and a black coat.
 Is the ghost of Bill Compton anchored to the building due to the tragic death?

 By the way, Lori doesn't believe that a clearing will do anything to change the level of paranormal activity at KDKB-FM building. The high EMF energy and brick building have created the perfect environment for a residual haunting. A Residual haunting is like a movie playing out or a play back of a past event. The ghost is not intelligent or aware. Certain building materials (quartz grains, silica, iron) used in older brick buildings have properties similar to tapes. When strong emotions or events occur, these materials store the energy which is played back another time.
NOTE: The only way to clear a residual haunting is to bull doze the place. 

After touring the building, Lori intuitively and independently felt the "ghost hot spots" in the core or middle of the building where the studio was being renovated. Lori relies on her psychic senses to find a haunting. She supports her intuition with ghost hunting equipment, EMF and thermal readings and especially her photography.  Renovating a building may stir up dormant activity. A vortex  radiated out from the center of the room. Many believe a vortex to is a portal or doorway between the earth plane and the spiritual plane - like a doorway between both dimensions. The second paranormal hot spot was near the ladies room in the hallway. 

After  finding the haunted areas Lori measured 9.8 spikes with the EMF meter. The base reading was 0.4 - 0.8.

High electromagnetic energy is conducive to portals and haunting activity. It's like food for ghosts.

Later on after the tour, Lori was invited on the KDKB morning show with impressive J.R. and Marci.

I guess you might be wondering WHY on earth would anyone get involved with investigating ghosts?   For the record,  I have had a  life long interest in paranormal phenomena for many years, starting with a strange experience I had in my early childhood. Throughout my life I have collected all of the books and data I could find on ghosts and hauntings.

In 1997, after I began to see STRANGE images appear in our family photos which were determined by a photographic expert to be valid paranormal anomalies on film. It was at that point that I decided conduct ghost investigations. Therefore, I have made the commitment to help validate hauntings with valid photography of paranormal activity.

(Singular "Simulacrum")--Pronunciation: "sim-y&-'la-kr&m,--a Latin (simulare) term which means likeness. Is it a real image, or imagined? Simulacrum is based not on fact but on fantasy –no basis in reality. While some see the face of an angel, saint, or monk others see the face of the divine creator. It is the same effect that causes one to think that they see a recognizable human form or shape in the ecto fog images or a face in the middle of an orb photo or window reflection still image. The human brain is continually looking for significant visual patterns.
